You should have used the image of that cake. The cake was very tasty-looking. That class was the first time I have ever watched or even heard of Twin Peaks. Oddly enough, I really enjoyed it. It was kind of odd yet intriguing at the same time. I want to find more of Twin Peaks and watch it out of curiosity. I don't usually watch shows like these, but I couldn't help but be curious thanks to the constant mood changing and the oddity of the way the pilot was filmed. Did anyone else feel the same way?
After all the hype that I heard about Twin Peaks and how its a cult classic, I was honestly surprised that the first episode wasn't better. Maybe it was because it was the pilot, but I was not enticed to watch any more of the show. I found myself sitting through the episode wondering why it seemed like it was never ending. The show itself kind of confused me because it seemed serious at some points but also funny too. The constant mood changes kind of annoyed me a little, which is another reason I don't want to watch it anymore than I've already seen. I love crime shows, such as CSI and Criminal Minds, but because this show wasn't constant with its seriousness, I was very turned off by it. Maybe I'm being a little harsh but I was hoping I would like it better seeing as to how big of a fan base it has.
This was the first I have ever heard of Twin Peaks and I thought the pilot was great. It was a long mystery with new plot holes and twists at every turn in just one episode. However some of it was also confusing and unnecessary in my opinion, like the girl in the hotel who spills the coffee and then tells the polish people about her friends death when specifically told not to. Other than certain moments that threw me off it was a very interesting show.
I had heard about "Twin Peaks" from a few people over the years before I watched the pilot in class. I thought it was very good and it set a very unique tone. It could be moving and sad in one scene and surprisingly funny in the next. The episode had a very similar feel to many of the other films by David Milch. This is fine by me because I liked a lot of his other work, but I can understand why some may not like his style. It is not for everyone.
My first thoughts on Twin Peaks was that it was quite satirical. The only reason I felt this way is because viewing a film that was made so long ago compared to films produced today, I easily noticed the evolution from works like Twin Peaks to works produced today. In current films you notice the consideration of every aspect that makes a film visually appealing, such as: typography, camera angles, emphasis on symbolism, etc. I can see Twin Peaks as definitely one of the big predecessors before producers began considering different aspects that make a film visually successful. Overall I enjoyed watching the pilot. I enjoyed the cheesy moments as they made me as a viewer feel more comfortable because I kind of knew what to expect. One last thing I feel is important to note is how successful Twin Peaks was in its constant transition between occasional funny moments and the grim, serious moments.
